Meet James
Consultant, Facilitator, Educator, Researcher
I help organizations make sense of complex people problems. My background combines sociological research, leadership development, facilitation, learning design, and more than fifteen years of work across post-secondary, professional learning, and organizational development settings.
I hold a PhD in Sociology from Lancaster University, where I was trained to study human systems carefully: how people behave, how institutions shape experience, and how the formal story of an organization often differs from what people are actually living day to day.
That training still shapes how I work. I listen carefully, look for patterns, and translate what I find into something leaders and teams can use.
How I Work
I start with listening. Interviews, focus groups, surveys, and structured conversations help surface what people are experiencing and what may not be visible in formal meetings.
Then I look for patterns. Where are expectations unclear? Where is trust thin? Where are people working around the system instead of through it? Where is the stated problem different from the real one?
From there, I help design a practical response. That might be a diagnostic report, a facilitated conversation, a leadership program, a workshop, a learning tool, or a clearer way for people to work together. The form depends on the problem. The starting point is always understanding.
Start a Conversation
The best solutions begin with a clear understanding of the situation, the people involved, and what matters most.
If you'd like to explore a challenge, opportunity, or idea, complete the form and I'll be in touch to arrange an initial conversation.
